Mindfulness at the Beach (For Bishop Kearney Community only)

A special Mindful Summer Morning designed for Bishop Kearney families and students to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect...with themselves and with each other...all in the beauty of nature with our BK Family.

Laura Gavigan, owner of Mindful Matters, Mindful Counselor, Coach & educator who has worked with our faculty and middle school students this year, leads this 90-minute outdoor session.

Mindful Movement: Gentle stretching to release tension & ground the body. Guided Meditation: Calm the mind with breath & present-moment awareness. Mindful Journaling: Reflective prompts to cultivate gratitude, clarity, and peace. Time to Connect: Quiet moments for personal reflection and shared time with your BK Family.

Journals will be provided.

Mindfulness has the power to change our perceptions, attitudes, thoughts and feelings in ways creating more room for connection, balance and joy to our lives and the lives around us. In this 4-session series participants will learn about mindfulness practices integrating seasonal themes/practices.

This monthly Mindful Mondays, Latte and Learn workshop hosted by Junction361 in the Village of Fairport, NY, is designed to introduce participants to the practice of mindfulness with curiosity, patience, compassion and humor. We are human and life takes a lot out of us, for sure. The practice of mindfulness can help.

Each monthly session will include Insight (learning about mindfulness), Practice (breathwork, gentle movement, guided meditation) and Reflection: Journaling & Discussion

The October 24th program, "Mindful Tricks & Treats" will include a seasonal focused learning and practicing of 1-2 mindful skills. Mindful Matters will provide journals & a seasonal gift for all attendees. All are welcome!

Cancer Wellness Connections: Mid-Month Mindfulness Series

"Mid-Month Mindfulness"

Cancer Wellness Connections is partnering with Mindful Matters to offer several sessions of "Mid-Month Mindfulness" skills.

Mindful means being aware and paying attention in a way that is calm, deliberate, and accepting. For cancer patients and their caregivers, it helps return the focus to the present moment and steers them away from the worry of the unknowns that cancer brings.

It can be helpful to:

  • Reduce stress and anxiety

  • Improve sleep

  • Reduce pain

  • Improve quality of life

  • Increase self-awareness

  • Increase resilience

First session: Mindful Self-Care and Compassion, August 15th, 7-8:15 pm
